GET INVOLVED

WORKING PARTY TEAM

There is always an opportunity to participate in another Working Party Mission Trip. We are currently working on plans for another team to go in July 2023 - this is an opportunity for you to be involved!!

VEGETABLE GARDENS

In 2016 the Working Party Mission Team built an example veggie garden for the people of the village. Since then other teams have significantly increased the size of this once small garden. This has been cared for by the people of the village and in September 2017 had its first successful harvest. The money raised by the selling of the vegetables at a local market has been used to buy more seedlings and a proportion will be put into the new Bahareduk education fund.

Additional materials which were transported from Adelaide have been supplied for the people of the village so they can have their own individual vegetable gardens and therefore enable them to become self-sufficient.This is an ongoing project which is very exciting and we look forward to continued growth!!

WATER

In 2016 major work was undertaken to improve the water supply to and throughout the village. In 2017 a water evaluation was undertaken to provide a long term plan to improve the supply and ensure enough water as the village continues to grow and for their vegetable gardens.

HOUSING

YWAM East Timor has committed to the village and the people for a period of 7 years to provide every family with a house.

Over the past 8 years it has been amazing to see how the number of houses being built keep increasing. If you like building or are good at making bricks (or would like to try a new experience), join a Working Party Mission Team or raise funds to supply additional materials either as an individual or as a group.

DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING SCHOOL

The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is run by YWAM and offers people the opportunity for a more intimate relationship with God. It also gives people an opportunity to discover their passions and part in God's purposes for the world. It is for those who long to follow Jesus is new ways with a different perspective.

The course is a full-time programme and lasts five to six months.

If you would like to assist with the fees for an individual student or the DTS as a whole, please contact easttimorproject@wpuc.org.au.

YOUTH WITH A MISSION

Members of the YWAM team who care for us and also the village are all missionaries, which means they rely on donations and sponsorship for their housing, food and general living expenses.

If you would like more information on ways to provide support, please contact easttimorproject@wpuc.org.au.

EDUCATION

There are many opportunities to assist in the area of education both for the students and the teachers.

In the village of Bahareduk an education fund has recently been created which will further support the Government school via the provision of stationery, supplies, teacher training and expansion of classrooms.

A proportion of the money raised from the selling of vegetables, from the main village garden, will go towards this fund.  The materials supplied for the individual vegetable gardens will incur a small cost, which will also go towards this fund.

In the village of Hera, the non-government school also receives support through members of the Working Party Mission Trips working at the school and the provision of various stationery materials for the children and teachers.

MEDICAL NEEDS

There is little to no medical facilities in the village of Bahareduk at the present time.

A local Timorese girl is presently studying nursing with a view to returning to the village to assist with their medical needs. Her university fees have been covered through sponsorship. Further medical professionals are required for the village on a long term basis.

For more information on how you could possibly assist, please contact easttimorproject@wpuc.org.au

MONEY BOXES

Money Boxes are an ongoing way to support the East Timor Project.

If you don't as yet have a money box there are still a few available for the cost of $10.

And if your money box is full bring it along to the church office and we can empty it, tell you how much loose change you had and you can start collecting again.
