Video from YWAM Perth - Homes of Hope

The East Timor Project was officially launched in June 2014 as a partnership between Westbourne Park Uniting Church and YWAM Timor-Leste. Together with YWAM the vision was to transform a community by providing a dignified quality of life, through access to education, health care, jobs, good nutrition and accommodation.

During the first 12 to 18 months, the focus was to raise funds to enable the building of 10 houses. The target was $80,000 and there was also the opportunity for people to participate in a Working Party Mission Trip in July 2015. Since the launch we have celebrated passing our initial target and being able to supply the materials for 20 houses! Together with the global church, the village of Bahareduk has 77 new houses completed.

Since our launch, there have been 7 Working Party Mission Trips to East Timor involving over 35 people from across Westbourne Park Uniting Church, other churches and the wider community. All team members have been deeply and significantly impacted by their trip and a variety of activities/projects were achieved during their time away. These have included: provision of medical supplies, supply of materials to upgrade water supply, practical and financial support for veggie gardens, building a house for the YWAM Staff (Arthur's House), education for a nurse and more.

As well as building homes there has been the building of relationships with the people of Bahareduk, supporting the YWAM Team and the start of a church which is continuing to grow in strength and numbers.
